Eligibility Criteria
Once the NEET results are declared, the next crucial step is the counselling process for aspiring medical students. Only candidates who meet the NEET cut-off set by the NTA are eligible to participate, as this score determines qualification for admission.
Qualification Criteria:
Candidates must secure the minimum required percentile in their qualifying examination:
- General category – 50th percentile
- OBC/SC/ST category – 40th percentile
- Physically handicapped (General) – 45th percentile
- Physically handicapped (OBC/SC/ST) – 40th percentile
Age Criteria:
- Minimum age: 17 years as of December 31 of the admission year
- No upper age limit for NEET-UG
- Age is calculated based on official documents like mark sheet, admit card, birth certificate, or passport

Admission Process
Admission to the MBBS program at RIMS is conducted through the West Bengal NEET counselling process, overseen by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kolkata. Candidates must qualify the NEET UG examination by meeting the minimum cut-off percentile prescribed by NTA.
Eligible applicants can apply for West Bengal MBBS admission by completing the online application form, typically released in the fourth week of June. After successful registration, candidates are required to participate in the online document verification process.
Following verification, a merit list is published, and candidates proceed with choice filling and seat allotment. The counselling process is conducted online in two rounds, with a mop-up round held if seats remain vacant.
Selection Procedure
- Candidates must appear for the NEET UG entrance examination conducted by NTA, with results declared based on scores and ranks obtained.
- Qualified candidates are required to participate in the West Bengal state counselling process through official registration.
- During counselling, candidates must select RIMS as one of their preferred choices to secure admission in a reputed institution offering quality medical education and excellent clinical exposure.
- Seat allotment will be carried out based on NEET rank, availability of seats, and choices filled, followed by document verification.
- Candidates allotted a seat must report to RIMS Medical College, M.N. Ghosh Road, Mangolpur, Raniganj, Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal – 713347, to complete admission formalities within the stipulated time.
