After completing MBBS in India, graduates have many career options in both public and private sectors. They can work as general physicians in hospitals or clinics, start their own practice, or secure government jobs through exams such as UPSC, SSC, and state health services. Some join NGOs or healthcare startups to support public health and rural healthcare, while others pursue roles in medical research, healthcare administration, or international health organizations.

Higher education is another major path. Graduates can qualify through NEET-PG or INI-CET to specialize in fields like Surgery, Pediatrics, Radiology, Dermatology, and Internal Medicine, or continue with super-specialization (DM/MCh). MBBS holders may also work as medical educators, in medico-legal services, or in areas such as medical writing, health IT, and the pharmaceutical industry.
